Who we are

At Our Elements, our mission is simple yet powerful: “Community supporting community, cultivating unity as we deepen our connection with the natural world.” We believe that when people of all ages are given the time, space, and guidance to explore outdoors, they not only grow as individuals but also strengthen the bonds that hold communities together.

Our youth programs create opportunities for children to connect with peers through active play, hands-on skill-building, and shared discovery in nature. From shelter building and fire-making to crafting with natural materials and engaging in team-oriented games, each experience is designed to encourage confidence, creativity, and collaboration. With every stick lifted, trail explored, and story shared around a fire, we see the values of resilience, respect, and unity come to life.

We recognize that homeschool groups & schools play a major role in our communities, and we're here to partner with educators in nurturing the whole child. Our programs align with New York State learning standards whenever possible and naturally support social-emotional learning, team-building, and experiential education goals. Whether enriching your science curriculum, supporting classroom lessons, or creating meaningful outdoor experiences, we work to create and design curriculum that helps children connect to state standards through different lenses.  Our Elements meet you where you are, in your classroom, school yard, or out in nature.

Our commitment extends beyond children. Our Elements also offers adult programs and intergenerational workshops, giving parents, caregivers, and community members a chance to step into nature together. Whether learning survival skills, participating in guided reflections, or engaging in collaborative projects, these offerings provide meaningful ways for adults to reconnect with nature, build community, and support their own personal growth.

Our Elements is more than an enrichment program — it is a movement toward rediscovering the essential connection between people, community, and the earth. Our guiding phrase, “Growing in community, supported by nature,” reminds us that the natural world is both our classroom and our teacher. Through it, children and adults alike learn to trust themselves, support one another, and carry lessons of stewardship and community into every part of their lives.
