Mark your calendars, Newburgh & Greater Hudson Valley Community : Quassaick Creek Fest is coming to Crystal Lake on Saturday, September 13th, from 11am to 4pm, and Our Elements will be there!
This free community celebration is hosted by Newburgh Sanctuary, Outdoor Promise, and Shaunjaney Bryan, and it's shaping up to be a wonderful day of nature, discovery, and connection along the Quassaick Creek watershed. The event takes place at Newburgh Sanctuary at Crystal Lake, 61 Temple Avenue in Newburgh, and it's open to all ages, at no cost.
What's Happening
There's something for everyone throughout the day:
AquaBlitz: led by the Quassaick Creek Watershed Alliance and Scenic Hudson, exploring the aquatic and terrestrial life that calls the watershed home
Kayaking on Crystal Lake: with Newburgh Waterways Center
Fishing basics: with Brain and Body Coalition
Hiking: with Outdoor Promise & Our Elements
Ecosystem exploration alongside the Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studies and the Greater Newburgh Parks Conservancy EJ Fellows Program
Live music, food, and art activities to round out the day

This Creekfest is a true community effort, brought together by a great group of organizations, including The City of Newburgh, Greater Newburgh Parks Conservancy, the Newburgh Environmental Justice Fellowship Program, Newburgh Waterways Center, Outdoor Promise, Quassaick Creek Greenway, Quassaick Creek Watershed Alliance, Newburgh Sanctuary, Scenic Hudson, The Brain and Body Coalition, Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studies, Our Elements, Riverkeeper, The Newburgh Clean Water Project, Kozonga Dance by Nkoula Badila, and HV Interpreters & Translators.
Where Our Elements Fits In
We're excited to be part of this one! Our Elements will be supporting the hike with Outdoor Promise, and we'll also have a table set up at the event, so come find us to say hello, ask questions about our programs, and learn more about what we do in the Hudson Valley.
Creekfest is really about gathering with neighbors, spending time outside, and celebrating the land and water that connect our community. Whether you come for one activity or stay for the whole day, we'd love to see you there.
