A Day Celebrating Crystal Lake with Newburgh Sanctuary

On May 17th, Our Elements Outdoor Learning had the privilege of tabling at the Love Crystal Lake program hosted by Newburgh Sanctuary.

We set up our table along the lake to share a little Hudson Valley magic: hands-on lessons in local ecology, some crafting, and a round of eco-based games that got kids laughing, and learning about the plants and wildlife that call this Hudson Valley home. There’s nothing quite like watching a child discover their first beaver in the Crystal Lake or piece together how a stream connects to the river, which connects to the world.

A huge thank you to Newburgh Sanctuary for the invitation and for the incredible work they do for this community. Thank you to the other companies, and nonprofits who showed up and did their thing. Days like this remind us why we love showing up for Newburgh. There’s so much curiosity, warmth, and connection to be found right here in our own backyard.

Here’s to more days outside, more hands in the dirt, and more events to celebrate the Natural world and our community's connection to it.
