Wingspan Weekends

from $345.00

Description: Wingspan Weekend is a season-long outdoor program that meets five Saturdays during the Fall, from the first cool mornings of September through the quiet hush of the winter solstice in December. Rather than a single fixed curriculum, each gathering is built around what that particular week and season are offering: the plants coming into seed, the birds passing through on migration, the way the light and the cold change the forest. Children return again and again to the same patch of land and get to watch, firsthand, how it moves through the year, growing right alongside it.

Across the five sessions, participants build real outdoor skills, fire craft, natural shelter building, cordage making, wild plant identification, and basic tracking, while developing the ecological literacy to understand why those skills worked for people living close to the land for thousands of years. Connecting hands-on skill building to the older human traditions of listening, observing, and belonging to place.

Each program date is a 6-hour session priced at $115. Families choose a minimum of 3 dates, then unlock a growing discount automatically as they add more, up to the full six-date season, no code needed.

For a full price breakdown, please see the slide in the images. Whenever possible, we try to make programs accessible to every family. Reach out if cost is a barrier. Support@ourelementsoe.com

Program Highlights:

  • Earth Living Skills: fire craft, shelter building, cordage, and tool use

  • Hudson Valley ecology and nature connection, grounded in Leave No Trace principles

  • Two age-based groups so instruction matches developmental stage

  • A full seasonal arc, five Saturdays from early fall through the winter solstice

Who It's For: Ages: 6-14 (grades 1st-8th). Groups are split by age when enrollment allows: Naiads (ages 6-9) and Darners (ages 10-14), named for two stages of a dragonfly's life, the water-bound young and the swift, fully-winged adult. Perfect for curious young learners ready to build skills, confidence, and a deeper relationship with the changing seasons. No prior experience necessary, just an adventurous spirit and a willingness to be outside.

Programs involve uneven terrain, variable weather, and sustained physical activity. Our Elements welcomes participants of all abilities. Participants may request reasonable accommodations by contacting us prior to the program start date. We will work collaboratively to determine appropriate supports when possible.
